Thanks for visiting our web page and showing an interest in our Nubian goats! We have a long history of farming and have always had a love for raising animals. I grew up in the Netherlands on a dairy/greenhouse farm, and later spend time breeding riding horses, which sparked my initial interest in breeding.

In 1997 my wife Elisabeth and I moved to Vineland, Ontario from the Netherlands to raise our boys and we later started a small greenhouse business. Laid in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, Vineland was an optimal location for farming and the greenhouse industry, and was a popular destination for newcomers from Holland.

After several years of running the greenhouse, as well as raising chickens and pigeons, I decided to again try my hand at breeding. Nubian goats were a a great option because of their quality of milk, pleasant demeanour, and their attractive appearance (particularly their long ears). Nubians were also a good choice because all fur colours are accepted and sought after...although we have a special preference for the black and white colour combination.

In 2012 I purchased my first Nubian goat, and since then the herd has grown to over 20 goats. We have an excellent breeding regimen and a successful CAE preventative program. Our aim is to breed goats with strong Nubian character, proper udder conformation, that will have good milk production for long periods of time. When seeking out new goats, we try to obtain the best bloodlines available in North America. Breeding has become a family affair at the VanZanten residence. My wife Elisabeth helps with the birthing process and often bottle feeds kids while they are being weaned. My son Peter treats the goats to apples and beets everyday after school and makes sure the kids are well-behaved!
